Hi, I’m Maya Ashley, the founder of Slick + Petals, an Afro Caribbean inspired beauty apothecary rooted in ritual, plant wisdom, and intentional generational care.

Slick and Petals is for everyone. It is an open invitation to slow down, breathe deeper, and reconnect with care in a way that feels real. While the inspiration comes from my heritage, the intention is to share it generously with anyone who wants a more thoughtful relationship with beauty and wellness.

I grew up in a Guyanese and Nigerian household where beauty was never just about appearance, it was a simple ritual. My parents used raw butters, oils, herbs, and natural remedies as everyday care. Fresh aloe from a Brooklyn market or hand rolled incense from a woman on the corner were normal parts of life. Those moments shaped how I see wellness today. Not as a routine, but as a ceremony. Holistic care was simply the standard.
